Darius Anderson
Darius Anderson is a highly respected entrepreneur and one of California’s most influential government affairs leaders. He is the Founder and Chairman of Platinum Advisors, a premier, full-service government relations and strategic advisory firm that has been consistently ranked among California’s top advocacy firms. Since founding the firm in 1998, Mr. Anderson has built Platinum Advisors into a powerhouse organization with offices in Sacramento, San Francisco, and Washington DC, providing elite-level services in lobbying, strategic counsel, government relations, project development, procurement, public affairs, and consulting.
Under his leadership, Platinum Advisors serves a selective and sophisticated clientele that includes local and regional governments, major corporations, trade associations, entrepreneurs, and nonprofit organizations. Mr. Anderson is widely recognized for his ability to navigate complex political and regulatory environments while delivering results that drive economic growth, public-private partnerships, and long-term value.
A renowned political strategist and trusted advisor, Mr. Anderson is regarded as one of the most connected and effective figures shaping California public policy. Appointed by the Governor of California to the Political Reform Act Task Force in 2010, he earned recognition for his credibility, sound judgment, and influence on public policy. His appointment to the California Community Colleges Board of Governors followed in 2018, where he helped oversee the nation’s largest system of higher education and advance workforce development and student success statewide. More recently, Governor Gavin Newsom appointed him to the California Fish and Wildlife Commission, where he continues to play a meaningful role guiding environmental and land-use policy.
Formerly serving on the boards of the Buck Institute for Research on Aging and the Jackie Robinson Foundation, he currently serves the Willie L. Brown, Jr. Institute on Politics and Public Service. Throughout his career, Mr. Anderson has advised senior elected officials, business leaders, and institutional stakeholders on complex policy, regulatory, and economic development issues.
Mr. Anderson has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to civic leadership, education, and philanthropy. He has held prominent leadership roles on numerous boards and councils, including serving as Chair of the National Advisory Council for the Institute of Governmental Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, and as a member of the Board of the Goldman School of Public Policy at UC Berkeley. His civic contributions reflect a deep dedication to public service, institutional excellence, and advancing effective governance across California and throughout the United States.
Beyond government affairs, Mr. Anderson is a successful and diverse entrepreneur. He is the Founder and CEO of Kenwood Investments, LLC, a California-based real estate development and opportunity fund. He also founded and led Sonoma Media Investments, LLC, the parent company of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat and other regional publications, which he successfully built and recently sold—demonstrating his strong business acumen, disciplined leadership, and ability to create and realize long-term enterprise value.
Mr. Anderson is a passionate art collector and owns a world-class collection of baseball memorabilia. He holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and currently lives in Kenwood, CA.
